“Being from Alabama, I didn’t witness homelessness in the same way I do here in the Midwest. When I moved to Minneapolis, the visibility of displaced individuals opened my eyes and moved me to take action. As a single mom of 4, and working 3 jobs I couldn’t just stand by—I knew I wanted to be part of the solution.
Through my work with displaced communities, I’ve had the privilege of getting to know many individuals on a personal level. I make it a point to listen to their stories, to understand the challenges they face, and to offer support where I can. Their resilience, their courage, and their hope inspire me every day and fuel my commitment to this work.
These stories are not just anecdotes; they are the heartbeat of my mission. They drive me to continue this work, to grow personally, and to be an advocate for change. I believe that by uplifting those who are displaced, we can foster a more compassionate and supportive community. My goal is to spread awareness, change perceptions, and mobilize others to join in this effort. Together, we can create a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”
